World Bank lends $30 million to Brazil

THE WORLD BANK has granted the Brazilian government a $30 million loan for the second phase of Prosanear, a programme aimed at providing water and wastewater services for low-income groups in urban areas.
The loan will be disbursed gradually until 2004 and will finance the research and preparation of water supply and wastewater collection projects. Repayment will be over a period of 15 years after five years’
grace. Brazil’s federal and state governments will provide $30 million
counter-part funding for the schemes.
