Gelsenwasser/Emscher merger put on hold

THE PLANNED MERGER o f Eon subsidiary Gelsenwasser and Essen wastewater company Emschergenossenschaft/Lippeverband has been put on hold.

The deal had been approved by the German monopolies commission and was ready for completion at the end of August but the merger of Veba and Viag to form Eon will prevent Gelsenwasser from signing the contract, according to the Emschergenossenschaft.
