NZ opens the door to private water finance

Funding shortfalls in New Zealand have already led to water infrastructure projects being delayed. A change in legislation could encourage the private sector to make up the difference.

On 28 October, the New Zealand government restored legislation permitting 35-year infrastructure concessions, opening the door for private sector funding to play a greater role in narrowing the country’s growing water spending deficit.
