Financing reshuffle fails to deter Djerba bids

A change in the debt/equity split on Tunisia’s first desalination BOT means that the client could face higher bids from the three Spanish teams pitching for the project.

Three bids have been submitted for the contract to build, own and operate a 50,000m3/d reverse osmosis desalination plant on the island of Djerba off the coast of Tunisia. Prequalified companies Inima/aqualia, Acciona and Befesa all submitted proposals for the 22-year contract, under which the successful bidder will own 100% of the facility.
