* Manila’s Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) has frozen tariffs in the coverage areas of Manila Water Company (East Zone) and Maynilad (West Zone), due to the economic crisis.
Smaller rises to cover inflation and foreign exchange losses have gone ahead, however. Negotiations amongst the three parties are ongoing, which could result in the city’s concessions being extended for another ten years in place of the rate increases.
