Israel’s bulk water supplier is planning to cover its 2009 investment budget through borrowing. It is also weighing up agricultural tariff reform.
Israel’s Mekorot Water Company is planning to substantially increase its investment programme in 2009 in order to cope with an unprecedented water shortage. “Most companies have been cutting back on investments as a result of the global financial situation, but we have no option due to the severity of the water crisis,” CFO Avi Geffen told GWI.
