Catalunya unveils €373 million water reuse plan

A new initiative aims to increase the production and take-up of reclaimed wastewater in Catalunya. It is not just industrial users who will benefit.

The Catalan government last month published a €373 million wastewater reuse programme designed to boost reclaimed water production fourfold to 204 million m3 per year by 2015.

Catalan water agency Agència Catalana de l'Aigua (ACA) was given the task of preparing the wastewater reuse programme in 2005 following the scrapping of the proposed Ebro water transfer.
