* Macquarie Essential Assets Partnership has decided that its 33.33% equity position in Aquarion is not an essential asset after all, and is looking for a buyer.
The stake would be bundled together with British Columbia Investment Management Corporation’s 11.67% share to make up a package, leaving Macquarie Infrastructure Partners with a majority holding of 55%. It is difficult to see what the attraction of a minority 45% stake in a regulated US water utility would be to any potential buyer.
