* Saudi Arabia’s National Water Company has rejigged its plans for privatising its distribution networks and its wastewater treatment plants.

The Medina and Dammam/ Al Khobar management contracts have been put on hold, while the BOT (build-operate-transfer) wastewater treatment programme has also been put back. In the longer term, NWC has grand plans to set up asset-owning joint ventures with private sector partners, which will have a regional rather than just a purely national scope.
