AMERICAS WATER NEWS IN BRIEF

* Consolidated Water affiliate Ocean Conversion has signed a definitive offtake agreement with the British Virgin Islands government for the purchase of at least 0.6MGD (2,271m3/d) from OC’s Bar Bay desalination plant. The 7-year contract comes with a further 7-year extension.

* Meanwhile, Biwater has been awarded a 16-year BOOT contract with the BVI government for a 2.3MIGD (10,456m3/d) seawater desalination plant, also on the island of Tortola. The new plant puts the future of the island’s Baughers Bay plant – operated by Ocean Conversion – in question.
