UU may re-assess sale of UK outsourcing unit

Recent contract losses have dramatically reduced the value of United Utilities’ UK outsourcing business. Interest in its Australian arm, meanwhile, has never been greater.

United Utilities may reconsider plans to sell its UK utility outsourcing operation – at least in the near term – because the initial offers it has received suggest the company will be lucky to raise half the £500 million it was hoping to realise from the sale.
