Whatever we do today, the outcomes of the Millennium Development Goals for water and sanitation in 2015 are, broadly speaking, already determined.
A great deal has already been achieved, but the goals must not become ends in themselves. They need to be a springboard towards sustainable water provision and management, in part based on 2000’s World Water Vision for 2025 – which was quietly shelved in 2003 due to the economic dip and a darkening political climate.
