Australians paying more for less

New data shows that capital expenditure by urban water utilities in Australia virtually doubled last year. Now, the battle is on to restore profitability in the light of declining consumption and rising operating budgets.


Australia's urban water utilities virtually doubled their capital expenditure to A$8.1 billion (US$7.4 billion) in the year ended 30 June 2009, according to new figures released by the National Water Commission and the Water Services Association of Australia.
