The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) has ruled in favour of Suez Environnement in its dispute with the Argentine government over losses related to the Aguas Argentinas concession.
The French company was forced out of the concession in 2006 after it became clear that the government would not allow the company to increase tariffs to take account of the devaluation of the peso. This month’s ruling allows Suez Environnement to claim compensation, but whether the company will get the $1.2 billion it is asking for looks ...
