Living the plastic pipe dream

Plastic pipe has fared well in the water and wastewater sector, taking market share from traditional materials. Gord Cope assesses its prospects in the wake of the economic downturn.

Pipe is by far the most efficient way to move water from source to treatment plant to consumer to waste treatment and ultimately back to the source. According to consultancy Freedonia, world demand for water-carrying pipe was $186 billion in 2010.
