Abengoa splits Befesa Agua in two

The Spanish construction and renewable energy group wants to expand its water business. Its strategy to achieve this is to separate project development and research and development from the business of building plants.

Abengoa, the Spanish construction group which found dramatic success in the renewable energy market, is looking to apply the same recipe to its water operations. The company saw its revenues increase by 105% between 2005 and 2009, as its heavy investment in research and development in solar power and bio-energy technology paid off.
