Water stocks unchanged amid contagion

An essentially flat month for water stocks belied the wider contagion in the markets. Meanwhile, renewed hopes of a new M&A wave in the UK regulated water sector were short-lived.
The data capture point for this month meant that the GWI Global Water Index managed to avoid much of the market contagion associated with the Japanese earthquake, though the index did fall by 1%, narrowly outperforming the benchmark MSCI World Index, which was down 1.8%.
