* Mexican president Felipe Calderon has announced a plan to invest over $83bn in the nation's water infrastructure in the coming years.

The investment will focus on increasing private sector participation in water and wastewater system expansion, aquifer management, and flood control.

 
* US-based Insituform Technologies has been awarded a $12.2m contract to rehabilitate Montreal’s sewer pipelines. The project will use its signature cured-in-place pipe (CIPP). Insituform opened a branch office in Montreal in June last year.
