BASF moves into membranes with inge deal

The chemicals giant has carved off a slice of the super-competitive low-pressure membrane business. The challenge is on to make an impact in a market that is getting more competitive, and looks to be heading towards consolidation.

 BASF, the largest chemical company in the world, has acquired the UF membrane producer inge watertechnologies, in a move that makes it the latest player to buy into the competitive global low-pressure membrane market.
