OFWAT WORRIES

Times are tough for the private water operators in the UK in the first year after regulator Ofwat enforced a new tougher pricing regime.

 With a few exceptions, revenue and profits for 2010/11 are down across the board for both listed and unlisted utilities. Unfortunately for Britain’s beleaguered bodies, things are likely to get worse before they get better, with the cost of adopting private sewerage networks set to kick in from October this year.
