Water investors play the Continental divide

The relative safe haven of the UK listed water utilities was the only saving grace for investors with exposure to European water stocks last year. Have prices bottomed out?

European water stocks – with the exception of the three remaining listed UK water and sewerage companies – had a dismal year in 2011, as all but one of their share prices plunged by more than 40% over the 12 months to the end of December.
