Enron to quit South American water contracts

ENRON IS RUMOURED to be about to relinquish all its water industry concessions in Brazil and Argentina and does not intend to stick around for any new concession bids.
The troubled US energy trading group has already divested its electricity generation and gas operations in Brazil.
Enron is likely to simply abandon Azurix’s water operations in South America if buyers cannot be found.
It appears that Azurix Buenos Aires may have acted as a catalyst for the retreat from South America, reflecting the growing economic crisis in Argentina ...
