MORE EFFICIENT WATER CONSERVATION, extensive reuse of greywater and a wider use of desalination should be the immediate answers to Spain’s water problems, according to an alternative water plan presented by shadow environment minister Cristina Narbona.
The series of urgent measures outlined by the opposition Socialist Party in the alternative plan are to be completed within five years at a cost of Pts415,000 million (€2.49 billion) instead of the government’s Plan Hidrológico Nacional (PHN) which is likely to cost Pts700,000 million (€4.2 billion) and take 10 years to complete.
