Vivendi quiet on Centrica link-up

Vivendi Environnement (VE) has declined to comment on market speculation that it has linked up with the UK’s Centrica to consider a bid for Southern Water. Southern was put on the market earlier this year.
French water industry sources said that there would be some logic in a linkup. Centrica has diversified over recent years in offering a range of services to its 14 million gas customers and is reportedly interested in the water services sector.
