Windhoek contract for European consortium

BERLINWASSER INTERNATIONAL, VIVENDI WATER and the Austrian water company, VA Tech Wabag have signed a 20-year contract with the city of Windhoek in Namibia to modernise, maintain and operate the Gorengab water reclamation plant. The consortium won the contract after an international call for tenders.
After modernisation, the plant will provide 21,000m3/d of clean water from treated wastewater, or 28% of Windhoek’s water requirements.
Investment of €19 million will be provided, with just over 50% (€9.6 million) coming from a cheap loan from Germany’s Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) under the bank’s financial development programme. A loan from the ...
