Saudis appoint new water minister

Saudi Arabia’s current ambassador to the UK, Dr. Ghazi Abdul Rahman Al-Gosaibi, has been appointed the Kingdom’s new Minister of Water, heralding a drive for greater PSP and a related revision of tariffs.
The creation of a water ministry was announced in the summer of 2001 (see GWI, Vol. 2, Issue 8, p.8) with the intention of streamlining decision-making and assisting deregulation in a sector where several major undertakings wield authority.
