Saudi Arabia plans new desal plants

SAUDI ARABIA is to build 20 desalination plants to meet continued and rising demand – due to population growth – for fresh water.

The governor of the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), Abdullah Al-Hussayen, said that in addition a further 13 projects to install 15,000km of water, fuel and gas pipelines were under review for the Kingdom’s eastern coastal region along the Arabian Gulf.
