CROMET MOLEPO, the axed chief executive of Umgeni Water, has filed an application to the Pretoria High Court in which he alleges that he was ousted because of his investigation into the company’s 1997 contract with Specialised Outsourcing (Outsors).
In a 94-page document, Molepo said: “I believe that I am the target of a process that is aimed at either silencing me or discrediting me”. Molepo was dismissed in November 2001.
Molepo refutes the charges on which he was dismissed, including spending R51,000 ($4400) on bugging his employees’ phones – an illegal activity and unauthorised expenditure. Molepo claims that ...
