Vivendi Universal confirms VE pledge

JEAN-MARIE MESSIER, president of the Vivendi Universal holding group, has said that the company is to retain its role as the leading shareholder in Vivendi Environnement (VE) “for a long time”.
Messier stressed that no investment bank should imagine it had a mandate to sell a single share of VE. He added that reports of negotiations in which Vivendi gradually sold off its stake in VE were “pure fantasy”.
Vivendi Universal currently holds a 63% stake in VE but parted with 9.3% of VE’s capital in December last year ...
