New IWPP announced for Algeria

THE ALGERIAN GOVERNMENT has confirmed its commitment to the development of IWPPs with the announcement of another project.

This follows the $300 million Arzew independent water and power project awarded to a joint venture between the Algerian Energy Company (AEC) and Black & Veatch Africa.

A tender for the Hamma desalination plant was launched last month and the contract structure is similar to that used in the Arzew deal.
