Nepal to reinvite PQs for Kathmandu

The Nepalese government is continuing with its preparations for the Kathmandu Valley management contract despite receiving prequalification proposals from only three groups. Final details are still under discussion but are likely to involve modifications to the original PQ criteria.

Of the three groups, France’s Vivendi was the only firm qualified for the project even after a renewed effort by Nepal’s Private Sector Participation Committee (PSPC) and the World Bank to bring in more participants. Of the two other groups which submitted proposals, one withdrew and the other, Norway’s Statkraft, was not qualified.
