Gelsenwasser to expand operations

E.ON SUBSIDIARY GELSENWASSER IS MAKING a concerted effort to expand its activities to counter falling water sales in its core area in the inland German state of North Rhine Westfalia.

In 2001, sales fell by 2.2Mm3 to 236.3Mm3, dropping back to levels last seen in the 1950s, mainly due to a fall in demand from the local mining industry and power stations in the region.
