AWG is now split into six component parts. The ring-fenced UK water and wastewater business – AWS – provides services to five million customers in eastern England and Hartlepool.
For the year ending 31 March 2002, AWS turnover increased to £724.4 million, up from £696.6 million last year. Operating profit for the year was £305.4 million (or £295.3 million after an adjustment). This compares to an operating profit of £362.1 million for 1998/99, and £341.2 million for 1999/2000.
