Corruption revelations rock Ghanaian water sector

An investigation into financial irregularities at the Ghana Water Company (GWC) has uncovered various incidents of corruption. Managers of GWC have been found to have made a fortune from contracts signed with the intention of preparing the company for privatisation.

As reported previously in GWI, privatisation of the Ghanaian water sector has faltered over the past year. The plan is to restructure the operations of GWC into two separate lease contracts along geographical lines.
