As well as the joint announcement by the Israelis and Jordanians, the Johannesburg summit gave rise to a number of other declarations on the provision of water and wastewater services.
However, while there was talk of partnerships and targets, there appeared to be little in the way of substance.
Most notably, countries agreed on a target of 2015 to reduce the number of people who lack access to proper sanitation and to halve the proportion of people without access to safe drinking water.
