United tries new partnership model

With the big city contract operations market shutting down, Suez’s US arm has been trying a new way of packaging its expertise.

United Water Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Suez, the world’s largest water utility, quietly rolled out its idea of a true public-private partnership. In April this year, United teamed with the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, one of the 10 largest US water and wastewater utilities, to jointly conceive and execute moneymaking or saving programmes for the WSSC.
