Just one week after announcing final approval of its takeover of American Water Works (see GWI, Vol. 4, Issue 1, p.10), RWE was back in defensive posture last month over press reports of a pending substantial restructuring of the group involving a loss of 10,000 jobs and creating annual savings of €700 million.
