Sabesp 1Q profits up

Exchange rates have worked in the company’s favour in the first quarter of the year.

Brazil’s largest water and sewerage company, São Paulo state’s Saneamento Basico do Estado de São Paulo (Sabesp) has registered first quarter net profits of R$171.9 million (US$59.7 million), up 54.5% on first quarter profits in 2002 (R$111.3 million, or US$38.7 million).
