Limited public funds for sanitation in Brazil

Funds are available this year but accessing them is a different matter.
Brazil’s basic sanitation sector still has loans of R$1.4 billion (US$499 million) available from the state savings bank, Caixa Econômica Federal (CEF) for projects this year.
Unfortunately most of this amount cannot flow to publicly-owned water companies as the necessary financial and legal conditions to take on credits are not in place.
