United States: Suez subsidiary United Water pulled out of the running for a 20-year contract to run New Orleans’ water and sewerage systems, pushing the troubled privatisation plan once more into disarray.
The proposal was nearly abandoned last year, after the Sewerage & Water Board voted to reject all three bids for the project. United’s exit leaves two bidders in the running: US Filter and a joint bid between Thames Water and OMI.
