The industrial conglomerate wants to take centre stage in the water industry.

The advance of the large industrial conglomerates into the water industry took another step forward with the acquisition of Ionics by GE for $1.1 billion. The deal values the company at 48% more than its closing market capitalisation on the day before GE announced its offer on 24 November.
