Sewerage network PPP in Gelsenkirchen

As Gelsenwasser continues to grow, speculation about potential partners mounts.

The town of Gelsenkirchen has “part-privatised” its sewerage network. Previously 100% owned by the town, the network has been sold to Gelsenkanal, which is owned by Abwassergesellschaft Gelsenkirchen (AGG), a company in which Gelsenwasser has 51% and the town of Gelsenkirchen 49%. AGG and Gelsenkanal together paid €182 million for the network, including a concession payment for way-leave.
