Marafiq moves ahead with IWPP

Marafiq appears to have stolen a march on the Saudi government by getting its IWPP out to the market first. The project is thought to have an excellent chance of success.
Marafiq, the special purpose utility company for the Saudi industrial cities of Jubail and Yanbu, issued the RFP for a 2,400MW and 300,000m3/d power and desalination plant in late June. The gas-fired facility, which is scheduled for completion in 2007-08, will serve Jubail industrial city. The target date for bidders to respond is 21 October.
