RO has a good future in the Middle East. Finding the right partner to exploit the market’s potential will be a vital step forward.
In April 2003, Japan’s Mitsui & Co. scored its first notable success in the Middle East IWPP market when it was awarded the Umm al-Nar project in a consortium with International Power and Tokyo Electric Power Company (see below). It has since prequalified for other combined power and water projects at Sohar and Shoaiba.
