Suez passes Santiago to Agbar

Suez wants to reduce its emerging market exposure. Agbar wants to expand in Latin America. A deal for Aguas Andinas suits both parties.

Aguas de Barcelona (Agbar) and Suez announced an agreement in mid-July on the sale of Suez’s 30.1% interest in Inversiones Aguas Metropolitanas Limitada (IAM) to Agbar for €139.4 million. IAM is the controlling (51.2%) shareholder in Aguas Andinas, which provides water services to the Chilean capital Santiago.
