Despite the excitement about China, 2004 was not kind to Asian water stocks.
The end-year picture for 2004 is somewhat complex. Nowhere does the water business seem to be a particularly good buy except in China. But even there one finds winners and losers. Building up assets and building up shareholder value sometimes remain mysteriously independent activities.
