Privatisation debate reaches Switzerland

The municipality of Emmen wants to corporatise its water utility. Opponents of the plan suggest it is the first step towards privatisation.

The municipality of Emmen is proposing to reorganise its water division Wasserversorgung Emmen into a stock company, with cooperation with another corporatised municipal utility, Energie Wasser Luzern (ewl), as a possible next step.
