Bahia state kicks off Brazil PPPs

Last year’s public-private partnership legislation is finally bearing fruit. Bahia will be tendering a US$73 million ocean outfall project this month.

Bahia became the first Brazilian state to launch a water sector public-private partnership (PPP) on 10 November. It has proposed a project for a US$73 million second ocean outfall for the state capital and Brazil’s third largest city, Salvador. State water company Embasa (Empresa Bahiana de Aguas e Saneamento SA) will publish the tender in December.
