Siemens firm awarded two contracts in the Middle East.
US Filter announced two industrial water orders in the Middle East last month. The Siemens group company is to supply sand filters for the Ain Dar and Shedgum seawater filtration project at Saudi Aramco’s Qurayyah seawater treatment plant. It is also providing systems for water reuse at a new gas-to-liquids (GTL) plant in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar.
The Aramco filters will enable the treatment plant to function more efficiently. Each will treat 125,000 barrels per day of seawater for water injection. Start-up will be in mid-2005. The EPC contractor on the project is Italy’s Snamprogetti.
The Qatar treatment systems are scheduled to become operational by the end of the year. A wastewater treatment unit will treat 4,900m3/d of effluent generated during the GTL conversion process at the Ras Laffan plant operated by Oryx GTL Ltd. A portion of the treated effluent will be used for irrigation, with the remainder being reused for cooling tower make-up. US Filter will also supply a biological treatment package plant. The engineer for the project is Technip Italy.
Order values were not disclosed.
