After meltdown in 2003, steady organic growth has replaced the scramble for market share in the US contract operations sector. Larry Chertoff reviews the market in 2004.
Following a depressing 2003, most major US contract operators redirected their efforts from long-term big city deals to less contentious community projects. The results in 2004 were markedly better.
On average, contract operations grew by about 9% although the distribution of success was quite uneven. To compensate for lower con-ops revenue, many companies expanded their service offerings.
